Job Summary

Join a multidisciplinary team developing AI-enabled decision support technologies that address complex real-world challenges in aviation and industrial operations. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of optimisation, simulation, machine learning, risk modelling, and operational decision-making, translating cutting-edge research into impactful solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop optimisation, simulation, and AI-based decision support solutions, modelling the high uncertainties in data and processes.
  • Build computational models for planning, resource allocation, risk assessment, and operational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with industry partners, domain experts, engineers, and researchers to translate operational needs into deployable systems.
  • Develop and evaluate algorithms, analytics frameworks, and software prototypes.
  • Support validation, testing, and deployment of research outcomes in operational environments.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, technology transfer, and stakeholder engagement activities.

What We're Looking For

  • PhD (or experienced MSc) in Operations Research, Computer Science, AI, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Strong background in optimisation, simulation, reinforcement learning, operations research, uncertainty modelling, or complex systems modelling.
  • Proficiency in Python and scientific computing tools.
  • Experience in developing analytical models, algorithms, or decision-support applications.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with using mathematical optimisation, heuristic algorithms, simulation, reinforcement learning, or explainable AI to solve real-world problems.
  • Familiarity with aviation, transportation, logistics, maintenance planning, or other operational domains.
  • Experience developing user-facing decision support tools or software systems.

Why Join Us

  • Work on challenging, high-impact problems with real-world deployment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with leading researchers, industry stakeholders, and government agencies.
  • Advance both scientific research and practical innovation in AI and optimisation.
  • Contribute to solutions that improve operational resilience, efficiency, and decision-making at scale.
