Job Description
Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join a newly awarded research project focused on fabricating atomically precise dopant-based quantum devices. This project aims to develop atomic-scale quantum devices for applications in spin-based quantum sensing and computing. You will be part of the National Quantum Federated Foundry at IMRE, working at the forefront of developing and advancing quantum hardware technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and fabricate surface chemistry based atomic-precision quantum devices on semiconductor substrates
- Develop and optimize UHV-based fabrication processes, including, but not limited to:
- Atomic-precision lithography
- High-quality semiconductor crystal growth (using MBE/CVD)
- Establish and refine cleanroom process recipes for:
- Optical/electron-beam lithography
- Plasma etching
- Metal deposition, etc.
- Perform electrical characterization and measurements, including, but not limited to:
- Measurement setup development
- Data acquisition and analysis
- Collaborate with graduate students and research team members
- Document fabrication processes and contribute to technical reports and publications
Requirements
- PhD in:
- Physics / Applied Physics
- Materials Science
- Electrical / Electronics Engineering
- or a closely related discipline
- Hands-on experience in:
- Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) systems and
- Cleanroom nanofabrication is preferred
- Experience with scanning probe lithography and/or MBE/CVD techniques is highly advantageous
- Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- High level of precision and analytical rigor in experimental work
- Proven track record of high-impact publications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
