Job Description
Position: Senior Scientist II – Human Stem Cell and Kidney Organoid Research
Job description:
The successful candidate will join the Xia Laboratory at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), A*STAR, to develop and apply human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived organoid models to investigate kidney development, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic strategies. The candidate will lead independent research projects integrating stem cell biology, organoid engineering, genome editing, molecular and cellular biology, advanced imaging, and multi-omics approaches.
The role includes designing and executing multidisciplinary research studies, analysing and interpreting experimental data, developing new experimental platforms, and contributing to collaborative research programmes. The successful candidate is also expected to mentor junior laboratory members, support grant applications, scientific publications and intellectual property generation, and contribute to laboratory management and administrative duties, where required.
Education: PhD in biomedical science
Requirements:
- PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Stem Cell Biology, or a related discipline. First-author publications in peer-reviewed journals are an advantage.
- Experience in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, and CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing.
- Experience in human embryonic stem cell/induced pluripotent stem cell culture and 3D organoid culture.
- Experience in microscopy; knowledge of pathology or histology is an advantage.
- Experience working with mouse models; animal surgery and embryonic dissection experience is advantageous.
- Experience analysing next-generation sequencing datasets is an advantage.
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with strong written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Highly motivated, responsible, and willing to mentor and share knowledge.
