Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join our Translational Retinal Research Laboratory focused on developing innovative therapies for retinal diseases. The successful candidate will contribute to a combination of in-vitro and in-vivo studies, supporting therapeutic discovery, validation, and mechanistic investigations. The role offers opportunities to work across disease modelling, preclinical evaluation, and translational research within a multidisciplinary environment. Candidates with strong experimental skills, scientific curiosity, and a collaborative mindset are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Develop and perform in-vitro retinal disease models using stem cell-derived ocular cells.
- Conduct therapeutic evaluation and transplantation studies in rodent models of retinal disease.
- Perform in-vivo procedures, including ocular injections, retinal imaging, tissue collection, and histological analyses.
- Assess therapeutic efficacy using molecular, cellular, imaging, and functional endpoints.
- Apply cell biology, molecular biology, and immunological techniques to investigate disease mechanisms and treatment outcomes.
- Analyse and present experimental data, and contribute to scientific publications, grant applications, and project reports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain compliance with laboratory, biosafety, and animal ethics standards.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Ophthalmology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience in cell culture and disease modelling.
- Demonstrated experience in rodent studies, including animal handling, injections, dissections, tissue collection, and experimental design.
- Experience with histology, immunofluorescence, microscopy, and molecular biology techniques.
- Ability to independently design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments.
- Strong data interpretation and scientific communication skills.
- Excellent teamwork and project management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retinal biology, retinal degeneration, AMD, inherited retinal diseases, or ocular therapeutics.
- Experience with cell transplantation, regenerative medicine, stem cell-derived products, or cell therapy development.
- Familiarity with retinal imaging modalities such as OCT, fundus photography, and fluorescein angiography.
- Experience evaluating therapeutic efficacy in preclinical disease models.
- Publication record demonstrating independent scientific contribution.
