Job Summary

A*STAR Skin Research Labs is seeking a highly motivated and independent Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead an innovative research programme focused on discovering and developing therapeutic strategies for the treatment of Epidermolysis Bullosa Simplex (EBS). This role offers the opportunity to work at the interface of disease biology, translational research, and therapeutic development using advanced human skin model systems.

 

The successful candidate will drive the design and execution of robust screening platforms grounded in EBS pathophysiological mechanisms and play a key role in advancing promising candidates toward preclinical development.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute a research project aimed at identifying therapeutic strategies for EBS
  • Design, develop, and optimize stringent in vitro screening assays using human skin models
  • Establish biologically relevant selection criteria to prioritize candidate hits for progression into preclinical studies
  • Investigate disease mechanisms and therapeutic responses using cellular and molecular approaches
  • Analyse and interpret complex datasets with a high degree of scientific rigor
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare progress reports, presentations, and scientific updates for stakeholders and funding bodies
  • Contribute to grant applications, manuscripts, and intellectual property development

 

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., skin biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or related field)
  • Strong background in in-vitro model development, preferably human skin or epithelial systems
  • Experience in assay development, phenotypic screening, or translational research is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to design, optimize, and troubleshoot experiments independently
  • Strong data analysis skills and critical thinking ability
  • Track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals
