Job Title:  Senior Scientist, Digital Chemistry, ISCE2
Requisition ID:  2335
Posting Start Date:  12/05/2026

Job Description

The Senior Scientist is a pivotal role within the Digital Chemistry Division, specifically tasked with leading the "4. PROBE" stage of the AiXL 5P Cycle (Plan, Prepare, Perform, Probe, Predict). The primary objective of this role is to bridge the gap between high-throughput analytical hardware and AI-readiness. As AiXL scales its operational capacity with integrated systems like the Agilent RapidFire-QTof, the successful candidate will ensure that thousands of reaction outputs are converted into standardized, high-fidelity data. By managing the flow between ultrafast triage and high-resolution validation, this role enables the closed-loop system required for machine learning retraining and the rapid optimization of sustainable chemicals and materials.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Data Standardization & Loop Closure
  • Develop and deploy end-to-end automated workflows to parse and process raw data from high-throughput instruments (LC-MS, GC, plate readers).
  • Convert raw analytical outputs into ISCE2 Reaction Database (IRD) compliant schemas to facilitate "5. PREDICT" models.
  • Utilize Python scripting to automate routine data processing (baseline correction, peak integration, normalization) to eliminate manual errors.
  1. Workflow & Instrument Management
  • Manage dual-mode workflows, optimizing the transition between RapidFire triage and UHPLC-MS validation to maximize instrument ROI.
  • Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) and oversee material characterization for Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry domains.
  • Handle equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance for UHPLC-MS, QTof, GC, and GCMS systems.
  1. Technical Support & Synergy
  • Familiar with Design of Experiments (DoE) and Bayesian Optimization.
  • Act as a technical bridge between research and support divisions, particularly complementing the ACI Division with specialized digital-analytical workflows.
  • Conduct laboratory personnel training and certify authorized users on analytical instrumentation.

     4. Operational Excellence

  • Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements, including chemical storage and waste disposal.
  • Manage procurement operations for laboratory supplies, equipment consumables, and services.
  • Participate in R&D project meetings to provide technical insights and progress updates.

Job Requirements

1.Educational & Professional Experience

  • Background: PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Digital Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Expertise: Demonstrated competency in managing and maintaining high-end analytical instruments (UHPLC-MS, QTof, GC-MS).
  • Specialization: Proven experience in analytical method development, validation, and data-driven workflow management.

2. Technical Skills

  • Programming: Proficiency in Python for data automation and processing is essential.
  • Data Science: Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DoE) and Bayesian Optimization workflows.
  • Systems: Knowledge of electronic laboratory information systems (LIMS) or digital analytical data handling platforms is a significant advantage.

3. Soft Skills & Attributes

  • Motivation: Highly motivated individual capable of driving the digitalization of traditional laboratory workflows.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with internal R&D teams and external industry stakeholders.
  • Reporting: Ability to produce high-quality written reports and deliver technical presentations.
  • Safety Mindset: Uncompromising commitment to laboratory safety and general housekeeping standards.
