Job Summary

The Lab of Cell and Tissue Mechanosignalling at the A*STAR Skin Research Labs is seeking a motivated Senior Research Officer to support the development of a next-generation in vivo platform to map cell-cell communication between distinct cell populations using cell type-specific proximity labelling technologies. This project integrates molecular biology, viral gene delivery, genetic mouse models and proteomics to uncover signalling pathways that drive tissue fibrosis and identify novel therapeutic targets.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct and support preclinical animal studies in compliance with institutional animal ethics and biosafety guidelines, including mouse colony maintenance, genotyping and viral gene delivery.
  • Perform primary cell isolation and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) to validate cell type-specific gene delivery and protein labelling.
  • Carry out molecular, cellular and biochemical analyses, including immunofluorescence staining, confocal microscopy, gene and protein expression assays.
  • Assist in the development and optimisation of in vivo cell-cell communication mapping technologies and experimental workflows.
  • Collect, analyse and document experimental data in accordance with good research practices.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents and consumables, and support procurement and inventory management.
  • Contribute to collaborative research projects within the laboratory and assist in the preparation of reports, presentations and manuscripts where appropriate.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology or related disciplines.
  • Prior wet laboratory experience is required; experience in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture and/or laboratory animal work is preferred.
  • Experience with flow cytometry/FACS, histology, viral vectors or protein biochemistry is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with IACUC procedures and laboratory animal handling is a plus.
  • Able to work independently, take initiative and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Detail-oriented, motivated and committed to scientific research.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
