ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Research Engineer with a strong background in automation system and hands-on deployment experiences in manufacturing environments. This role is pivotal in bridging industry needs with advanced mechanical design solutions, from conceptualization to implementation.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Industry Engagement & Problem Definition
    • Collaborate (together with our tech-biz manager) directly with industry partners to gather and define problem statements.
    • Translate operational challenges into actionable design requirements.
  • System Design Leadership
    • Lead the full lifecycle of mechanical system design: from concept development to detailed design and deployment.
    • Drive innovation in mechanical architecture and automation principles.
  • Project Execution
    • Oversee the implementation of mechanical systems on manufacturing floors.
    • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Apply in-depth knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and design for automation principles.
    • Utilize SolidWorks or Solid Edge for 3D modeling, simulation, and documentation.
  • Independent Contribution
    • Operate autonomously in industry engagement, design ideation, and technical execution.
    • Mentor junior designers and collaborate cross-functionally with electrical and software teams.

 

JOB REQUIREMENT

  • Candidate should possess strong and in-depth technical (Mechanical)) knowledge in the field of robotics and automation
  • 3 years and above of work experiences or similar 
     

We value the following skills relevant to Mechanical Design:

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T principle 
  • Solid understanding and practical experiences in mechanism design and analysis, with exposure to serial and parallel kinematic mechanisms
  • Working knowledge of precision machine design principles, and the ability to apply them effectively in engineering contexts
  • Familiar with solidwork/solidedge and other CAD software. 
  • Familiar with Finite Element Analysis
  • Knowledge of commercially available automation components/module/system and ready automation solutions, coupled with the skill to search for solutions
  • Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams (e.g., electrical, controls, software).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and industrial standards.
  • Prior exposure to industry-academic collaboration or R&D environments.
