Job Description
Job Title:  Senior Research Engineer II, IVR, VPD, Adv Pkg, IME
Requisition ID:  3406
Posting Start Date:  19/10/2026

We are seeking a Test Engineer to support wafer-level electrical testing, RF/mmWave characterization, and laboratory operations in our TCOE lab. Junior and early-career candidates are encouraged to apply. This role involves operating and maintaining advanced semiconductor test equipment, supporting device characterization activities, managing lab logistics, and collaborating with engineering teams. Training will be provided for motivated candidates with a strong technical foundation and willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support automated wafer-level testing and electrical characterization of semiconductor devices.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor measurement systems, including wafer probers, Advantest SoC testers, NI/SMU-based platforms, impedance analyzers, temperature forcing systems, RF/mmWave probe stations, and VNA-based characterization equipment.
  • Perform wafer probing, device bring-up, debug, and characterization for digital, analog, and RF/mmWave devices.
  • Execute measurements across a range of operating conditions, including temperature-dependent, low-current, and low-voltage testing.
  • Assist with setup, verification, and troubleshooting of probe cards, RF probes, cables, fixtures, load boards, and related hardware.
  • Coordinate day-to-day laboratory logistics, including wafer tracking, sample handling, inventory management, consumables, spare parts, and equipment readiness.
  • Maintain test documentation, calibration records, measurement data, and issue logs.
  • Support development of test procedures, SOPs, checklists, and best practices.
  • Perform basic equipment health checks and coordinate maintenance activities with vendors and service providers.
  • Ensure safe operation of laboratory equipment and proper handling of wafers, probes, instrumentation, and ESD-sensitive materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of semiconductor testing, electrical measurements, or laboratory instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: wafer probing, parametric testing, digital test, IV/CV measurements, impedance analysis, RF measurements, test automation, data acquisition, or data analysis.
  • Strong hands-on skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow structured procedures.
  • Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with semiconductor characterization labs, wafer probers, probe stations, or automated test equipment.
  • Familiarity with Advantest, NI, Keysight, VNA, impedance analysis, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of RF/mmWave testing, S-parameters, calibration techniques, or dielectric characterization.
  • Experience with Python, LabVIEW, or other automation and data analysis tools.
  • Understanding of ESD control, equipment calibration, quality systems, and laboratory best practices.
  • Experience managing test hardware, probe cards, RF probes, fixtures, and associated logistics.

Why Join Us?

This role offers hands-on exposure to advanced semiconductor test and characterization platforms, opportunities to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and structured training to develop expertise in wafer-level electrical and RF/mmWave testing. Direct experience is advantageous, but motivated junior candidates with strong technical aptitude are strongly encouraged to apply.

The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR may include additional selection criteria based on its prevailing recruitment policies. These policies may be amended from time to time without notice. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
