Role Summary
Overview
MCF group in SIMTech is seeking a motivated, innovative and experienced research engineer for the Hybrid Bulk Metal Forming Section, to lead and support both research and industry projects. This role involves designing and developing innovative materials and processes through molten metal forming technologies to support industrial applications in semiconductor equipment, automotive, biomedical, and energy sectors. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, supervise junior staff, and gain new skills as well through on-the-job training.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of novel industrial components and metal forming solutions in areas such as thermal management and metal processing sustainability, and lead R&D projects based on metal processing as part of a team of highly skilled researchers and engineers.
- Strategize, formulate and drive R&D and industrial engagement plans related with metal processing to improve technology competency and industry adoption.Interact with partners and customers from research institutes and industries to define and refine research projects.
- Prepare technical reports, presentation slides, publications, and patents to disseminate R&D findings.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Provide mentorship, guidance and career development to team members.
- Collaborate with industry partners and academic institutions for joint research projects.
- Support in the process equipment set-up, laboratory operations, and inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in laboratory and pilot-scale operations.
Job Requirements
- At least Bachelor (Masters and above preferred) in Material Science and Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with metal forming processes, product design, testing and validation in R&D and industrial environments.
- High level of competency with cross-technology engineering solutions.
- Experience in leading project teams and with people management.
- Proven track record with customer management and driving customer satisfaction.
- Well-networked in the industry and able to tap on different vendors/suppliers to complement own work.
- Proven track record of innovation in manufacturing, industrial product design and project management.
- Self-driven and proactive, apply logic and reason to effectively solve problems and manage risks.
Preferred Skills
- Familiar with CAD tools, e.g., SolidWorks.
- Familiar with the use of AI tools in manufacturing.
- Proactive team player to solve problems via collaborations.
- Formal project management experience will be an advantage.
- Ability to learn new skills willingly and quickly.
