Job Description

The A*STAR Graduate Academy (A*GA) develops a strong pipeline of Science and Technology (S&T) talent to support Singapore’s research, innovation and enterprise (RIE) ecosystem. Through scholarships and talent development programmes at the undergraduate, PhD and post-doctoral levels, A*GA supports high-potential individuals in their journey to become future scientific leaders and contributors to Singapore’s R&D landscape.

As part of the Scholarships and Youth Science team, you will play a key role in shaping talent development initiatives that inspire and support the next generation of researchers and innovators.  


You are a resourceful and motivated individual who is passionate about developing future S&T talent and advancing Singapore’s research and innovation capabilities. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive scholarship and youth science initiatives, develop policies and programmes, and support strategic talent outcomes for A*STAR and Singapore’s RIE ecosystem.


You will also gain exposure to higher education and talent development policies, strengthen your analytical and stakeholder engagement capabilities, and deepen your organizational awareness. The ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment is essential.  

What to expect:

  • Review, enhance and operationalise scholarship and talent development policies to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness as the local and global talent landscape evolves.
  • Analyse data, trends and stakeholder feedback to support policy reviews, programme evaluation and decision making.
  • Drive the promotion, recruitment, selection, management and development of scholarship programmes across multiple entry points.
  • Support the design and delivery of youth science outreach and engagement initiatives for pre-university and university students, including experiential programmes that provide meaningful exposure to research and innovation careers.
  • Partner schools, institutes of higher learning, A*STAR research institutes and other stakeholders to strengthen outreach efforts and cultivate interest in S&T careers amongst youth.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve strategic outcomes for scholarship and youth talent development programmes.
  • Engage senior stakeholders, scholars and students through outreach activities,  engagement sessions, interviews and key events.
  • Support planning and management of programme budgets and resources.

Job Requirements

  • Strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for developing youth and scientific talent, with an interest in Singapore’s research and innovation ecosystem.
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship management capabilities.
  • Resourceful, proactive, meticulous, and results-oriented, with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in teams to deliver results, at times within tight timelines.
  • Knowledge of higher education policies and their wider impact on Singapore will be an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
