Senior Assistant Director / Assistant Director (Pharmbio Cluster), Biomedical Research Council
We are looking for highly motivated individuals to build and develop Singapore’s R&D capabilities in drug discovery and development. You will be involved in key operational and strategic activities for various A*STAR and national drug discovery and development-related initiatives, to fuel the local biotech ecosystem and attract private R&D biomedical investments into Singapore.
The incumbent will have wide opportunities to craft unique value propositions and support flexible thematic partnership programmes by working closely with the senior management, A*STAR research community, public hospitals, universities, industry and public sector agencies, to translate research into economic outcomes.
An Officer in this role will:
Support the development of research directions and priorities to achieve A*STAR’s mission and goals across our research institutes.
Work closely with A*STAR and Singapore"s research units to understand their capabilities and relevance to the public agencies and the industry
Identify R&D opportunities based on key scientific and industry trends, as well as national and economic imperatives, including formulating and executing strategies at A*STAR and national levels.
Establish and anchor long-term partnerships with key stakeholders such as A*STAR research community, public hospitals, universities, industry and public sector agencies
Manage administration related to A*STAR research units and grants
Job Requirements:
- Degree or postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-4 years’ working experience, preferably in public sector agency, Pharmaceuticals or Biotech industry R&D and/or in a science-based business role.
- Have a broad vision of science and technology, able to handle diverse technical topics beyond one’s direct field of education and experience, with excellent awareness of emerging technologies and global trends.
- Outstanding writing abilities, oral communication and presentation skills with a flair for engaging multiple stakeholders for outcome-driven discussions.
- Thrives in complex situations.
- Ability to expand sphere of influence through networking and understanding of the local ecosystem.
- Excellent organising, planning and analytical skills.
- Is independent and a strong team player.
- Willingness to learn, with adaptability and flexibility to take on required/necessary tasks beyond the job description.
