Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and curious Research Scientist to join our growing team and contribute to impactful research supporting the safety, efficacy, and quality of next‑generation biotherapeutics. This role offers the opportunity to work at the interface of analytical chemistry, biotherapeutics development and systems biology, with contributions in two core areas:

  1. Advanced analytical method development for the characterisation of emerging and next‑generation biotherapeutic modalities and bioprocesses, with a particular emphasis on nucleic acid–based products.
  2. Development and application of metabolomics workflows to decode metabolic signatures and reveal disease‑associated mechanisms.

As part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, you will have the opportunity to push scientific boundaries, explore new analytical strategies and shape research directions. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to design experiments, generate high‑quality datasets, and deliver insights that enhance biological understanding and support product characterisation. You will also contribute to maintaining a safe, organised, and innovative laboratory environment.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and contribute to method development, characterisation studies and metabolomics investigations, from experimental planning through to data interpretation.
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot LC–MS platforms, with opportunities to adopt and optimise new analytical technologies.
  • Develop and refine sample preparation workflows, including the use of automated liquid handling systems.
  • Apply statistical, chemometric and data‑driven approaches to complex datasets to uncover actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, communicate findings clearly, and contribute to publications, presentations and project reports.
  • Support laboratory functions, safety and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Biochemical/Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in analytical method development, biotherapeutic characterisation and/or metabolomics (industry or academic experience welcomed).
  • Proficiency in liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) operation and maintenance is desired.
  • Hands‑on experience with automated liquid handling for sample prep or workflow automation.
  • Strong foundation in working with complex, high‑volume biological datasets, using statistical and computational approaches (such as R) to uncover actionable biological insights.
  • High level of scientific rigour, attention to detail, and commitment to producing high‑quality data.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced research environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within project timelines.

What We Offer

  • Opportunities to work on innovative and high‑impact research spanning biotherapeutics development, analytical science and metabolomics.
  • Access to advanced instrumentation and platforms, with support for continued technical and professional development.
  • A collaborative, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment where scientific curiosity is encouraged.
  • The chance to contribute to research that informs biotherapeutic characterisation, process understanding, and disease‑related biological insights.
