Job Description
We are looking for candidates to join the fusion-energy effort in the newly formed Future Energy Acceleration & Translation (FEAT) Programme, A*STAR. FEAT's Advanced Ceramic Composite & Coatings team focuses primarily on advanced materials development. Candidate will be expected to contribute to and potentially lead research in materials coating and analysis. Participation in grant calls as a principal investigator is highly encouraged.
The key scope of job includes:
- Develop and evaluate advanced coating materials and process for energy applications, including fusion, fission, hydrogen technologies, or other extreme environment.
- Conduct research on materials development for harsh and extreme environments to improve performance and reliability in energy applications.
- Assist project and group leaders in preparing research proposals and achieving OKR (Objectives and Key Results).
- Publish high-quality scientific papers and contribute to intellectual property development.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on energy-related projects.
Job Requirements
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
- Strong publication record and/or relevant research experience.
- Proven expertise in coating materials and process development.
- Experience with materials characterization techniques and performance evaluation in extreme environments.
- Candidates with a background in thermal spray are strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of physics of materials, material degradation mechanisms, and structural integrity analysis.
- Ability to work independently with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
- 5 years of experience on coating materials and process development.
