Long Description

Scientist – AI for Computational Biology

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to develop machine learning methods for computational biology and metabolic engineering. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, systems biology, and biotechnology to develop predictive models that integrate biological data across multiple modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop machine learning and graph-based models for biological data analysis.
  • Integrate multi-omics, metabolic networks, and biological databases into predictive frameworks.
  • Design and implement scalable AI pipelines for computational biology applications.
  • Collaborate with experimental scientists to develop data-driven approaches for strain engineering and bioprocess optimization.
  • Publish high-impact research and contribute to collaborative research projects.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
  • Experience with graph neural networks, knowledge graphs, representation learning, or foundation models is highly desirable.
  • Experience handling large-scale biological datasets and databases.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong publication record.

Desirable Skills

  • Graph machine learning and heterogeneous graph transformers.
  • Biological knowledge graphs.
  • Protein or molecular language models.
  • Multi-omics data integration.
  • Genome-scale metabolic modelling or systems biology.
  • Experience with high-performance or distributed computing.

The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR may include additional selection criteria based on its prevailing recruitment policies. These policies may be amended from time to time without notice. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
