ISCE2 is seeking a talented Scientist to be part of a young, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team to develop next-generation sustainable technology for the biomanufacturing of fine and specialty chemicals. We are looking for an individual with a passion for science and sustainability who has a proven track record in cellular design, metabolic, strains and/or host engineering for biomanufacturing of sustainable chemicals. The successful candidate may be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Design and conduct experiments to optimize the biochemical pathways and/or cellular organism towards production of selected chemicals
  • Comfortable in the use of advanced technology, including AI/machine learning to help accelerate development
  • Maintain accurate records, analyze data and present research findings at conferences, meetings, and to internal / external stakeholders
  • Supervise and mentor junior researchers in the team
  • Devise proposals to support industry engagements and/or to seek competitive funding
  • Write and publish high impact papers in peer-reviewed journals, alongside preparation of technical disclosures, patent applications
  • Deliver project milestones within timeline and resources
  • Represent the institute at industry meetings and events
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager

Requirements:

  • PhD in in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering or Biological Engineering or its equivalent
  • Strong background chemical / biological / genomic engineering and/or biotechnology
  • >2 years of post-PhD experience preferred, though fresh PhD graduates with outstanding record will also be considered
  • Adaptable to team-oriented goals and requirements
  • Rigorous data analysis, interpretation, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral/written communication, documentation and organization skills
  • Meticulous, attention to details and organized
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task
