Job Summary
The Lab of Cell and Tissue Mechanosignalling at the A*STAR Skin Research Labs is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to support the development of a next-generation in vivo platform to map cell-cell communication between distinct cell populations using cell type-specific proximity labelling technologies. This project integrates molecular biology, viral gene delivery, genetic mouse models and proteomics to uncover signalling pathways that drive tissue fibrosis and identify novel therapeutic targets.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and perform experiments to develop and validate an in vivo platform for mapping cell-cell communication.
- Design and optimise genetic constructs, viral vectors and experimental strategies for cell type-specific gene delivery and proximity labelling.
- Develop and optimise workflows for primary cell isolation, fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) and validation of cell type-specific gene delivery and protein labelling.
- Develop and optimise tandem affinity purification workflows and coordinate downstream mass spectrometry/proteomic analyses.
- Design and perform mechanistic validation studies using molecular, cellular and biochemical approaches, including primary cell culture and co-culture systems.
- Analyse, interpret and present experimental data, and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, reports and grant applications.
- Mentor research officers and students where appropriate.
- Contribute to collaborative research projects within the laboratory and support the laboratory’s broader research programme.
Requirements
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology or related disciplines.
- Strong background in molecular and cellular biology with demonstrated experience in experimental design.
- Experience with molecular cloning, viral vectors, genetic engineering and/or mouse models is preferred.
- Experience with flow cytometry/FACS, protein biochemistry or proteomics is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and scientific communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
