Role Summary
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Research Scientist in the Integrated Composite Processing Section. In this role, you will address material and process challenges, develop scientific-driven solutions, and contribute to both research and industry projects involving composite mechanics, process innovation, and data or AI enabled process development. The scientist is required to support both industry and R&D projects where process innovation, structural testing and material characterizations are needed. Experience in project management, grant writing and patent applications will be advantageous. Basic knowledge of composite mechanics, CAD design, finite-element analysis and machine learning is required.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Research on rapid forming and moulding of fibre reinforced thermoplastic composites in multiple matrix systems.
- Working with a team of scientists and engineers to enhance the capability of Out-of-autoclave and compression moulding technology.
- Formulate scientific research direction and innovative proposals to secure competitive funding
- Design and customise manufacturing equipment and system for innovative solutions to industry problem statements.
- Familiar with CAD and CAE tools, SolidWorks, machine learning tools etc.
- Deep knowledge of a wide range of forming technologies of metal, composites, and polymer materials
- Conduct mechanical tests, testing tool/jig design and material characterizations.
- Strong experimentalist with hands-on experience in materials or process development.
- Prepare project progress update presentation for customers.
- Prepare research project proposals, presentations, and reports, conduct R&D experiments and file technology disclosures.
- Support in the process equipment set-up, laboratory operations, and inventory management for export control items.
- Keep a good record of production work orders, laboratory data, methods, results, drawings, etc.
- Able to perform well in both industry-type and research-type projects.
JOB REQUIREMENT
- Ph.D. in Aerospace/ Mechanical Engineering, etc.
- Fresh graduates with strong fundamentals in material science and mechanical engineering are welcome
- Experienced with composite moulding machine operations and process troubleshooting
- Good track record of scientific publications in top journals and conferences
