Job Description

We seek a passionate Research Scientist to work on the development of novel quantum devices for applications in nanoelectronics and quantum sensing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, fabrication, and measurement of electronic quantum devices based on low-dimensional materials.
  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of charge transport measurements, with particular emphasis on topological and quantum phenomena.
  • Establish fabrication recipes, protocols, and material processing capabilities within the project and the research group.
  • Set up measurement capabilities, including a low-temperature cryogen-free system for magneto-transport measurements, and establish corresponding protocols.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and capability upgrades.
  • Lead reporting and communication with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead the preparation and publication of research manuscripts.
  • Lead the filing of technology disclosures and preparation of technical documentation.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Materials Science, Physics/Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong expertise in the measurement, analysis, and interpretation of classical, quantum, and topological charge transport.
  • Expertise in nanofabrication techniques, including lithography, thin-film deposition, plasma etching, and 2D material processing.
  • Experience in the fabrication of van der Waals heterostructures and handling of air-sensitive low-dimensional materials is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in cryogenic techniques and low-temperature measurements.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of dilution refrigerators is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in programming for scientific instrumentation (e.g., Python and/or LabVIEW).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead research projects independently, including planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
