Job Description
At IME’s Silicon Photonics Department, the candidate will be an integral part of a team in developing photonic computing hardware for AI acceleration. This role will contribute significantly to photonic integration, photonic device/circuit design, characterization, electro-optic integration, and verification of device/system functionalities. You will work closely with an excellent multidisciplinary team on photonics, electronics, semiconductor process, integration, and fab operation.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Develop integration flow for new photonic devices/circuits.
- Design of photonic devices/circuits for photonic computing hardware.
- Development of optical testing platform for photonic computing hardware. This emphasizes the application-specific testing with multi-channel in, multi-channel out.
- Development of electro-optic testing platform for advanced photonic applications. This focuses on the electro-optic integration and relevant high-speed control interface, as well as advanced packaging solutions.
- Verification of electro-optic system functionalities. This emphasizes the realization of targeted algorithms implemented on photonic computing hardware, as well as data analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Preparation of technical presentations and papers for internal meetings, as well as conferences and journals.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure quality and on-time delivery for various projects. You will get a chance to be exposed to both industrial and academic projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- PhD in Integrated Photonics, Microelectronics, Opto-electronics, Physics or equivalent.
- Strong hands-on experience in photonic device/system simulation using various electrical / photonics design software.
- Strong hands-on experience in integrated photonics fabrication, characterization, and data analysis.
- Strong communication, industry awareness, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong self-motivation and interest in the next-generation photonics technology development.
