Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to lead research and innovation in advanced optical measurement systems for semiconductor manufacturing and inspection. The successful candidate will initiate and drive high-impact research in optical metrology, develop novel measurement methodologies, and translate scientific discoveries into next-generation inspection technologies. This role requires strong scientific leadership, a proven research track record, and the ability to bridge fundamental research with industrial applications through multidisciplinary collaboration with academic, research, and industry partners. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead innovative research in optical metrology and advanced optical measurement systems for semiconductor inspection and manufacturing. 
  • Develop novel optical measurement concepts, instrumentation, and methodologies leveraging techniques such as nonlinear optics, and optical coherence tomography. 
  • Drive scientific innovation through new measurement principles, system architectures, and data-driven algorithms to improve accuracy, sensitivity, throughput, and robustness. 
  • Lead the design, integration, and validation of prototype optical metrology systems through rigorous experimental research. 
  • Develop advanced data analysis, image processing, and AI-based approaches for defect detection, characterization, and quantitative measurement. 
  • Publish high-impact research outcomes, generate intellectual property, support technology transfer 

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. 
  • Minimum 2 years of postdoctoral or industrial R&D experience in optical metrology, optical instrumentation, semiconductor inspection, or related fields. 
  • Demonstrated independent research capability through publications, patents, invited presentations, or technology commercialization. 
  • Strong expertise in optical system design, experimental research, and quantitative data analysis. 
  • Proficiency in scientific programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or LabVIEW) for instrumentation, automation, and algorithm development. 
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary research projects and collaborate with academic and industrial partners. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Expertise in optical characterization and metrology techniques, including microscopy imaging, interferometry, nonlinear optics, optical coherence tomography, computational imaging, or related technologies. 
  • Experience in image processing, computer vision, machine learning, or AI-based optical inspection methods. 
  • Familiarity with optical design software, simulation software (Lumerical FDTD), precision motion control, laboratory automation, and advanced optical instrumentation.
