The YUcleic Lab at GIS, A*STAR, is recruiting a Scientist or Senior Scientist to develop innovative therapeutic strategies targeting RNA and DNA.
Our lab integrates nucleic acid biology, chemical biology, functional genomics, and molecular pharmacology to develop antisense oligonucleotides, small molecules, and other gene-targeting approaches. We aim to achieve precise and programmable regulation of disease-relevant genes, including targets and pathways that are currently difficult to drug.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary projects, shape new research directions, and contribute to emerging RNA- and DNA-targeted therapeutic platforms.
Research Areas
Projects may include:
- RNA regulation of translation, stability, splicing, and processing.
- Discovery of RNA-binding proteins and disease-relevant regulatory elements.
- Development of ASO- and small-molecule-based gene-regulation strategies.
- Cellular screening and functional genomics.
- Mechanistic studies of nucleic acid–drug interactions.
- Transcriptomic and genomic analysis of therapeutic activity and selectivity.
Candidate Profile
- PhD in RNA biology, nucleic acid biology, functional genomics, molecular biology, pharmacology, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of RNA regulation and gene-expression control.
- Hands-on experience in relevant techniques such as CRISPR, CLIP-seq, ChIP-seq, Ribo-seq, RNA-seq, co-IP, western blotting, reporter assays, or cellular screening.
- Strong scientific writing, presentation, and project-management skills.
- Independent, collaborative, and motivated to explore innovative therapeutic strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and test innovative hypotheses in nucleic acid biology and therapeutics.
- Design mechanistic and functional studies in disease-relevant cellular models.
- Establish screening platforms to identify regulatory factors, ASOs, and small molecules.
- Apply functional genomics and sequencing-based approaches.
- Collaborate with biologists, chemists, and computational scientists.
- Lead research projects, mentor junior researchers, and contribute to publications and grant proposals.
Why Join Us?
GIS is Singapore’s national flagship institute for genomic sciences and provides access to world-class genomics, sequencing, computational, and translational research platforms.
The position offers:
- Opportunities to lead high-impact research.
