Job Description
Job Title:  Scientist, Cell Therapies, IMCB
Requisition ID:  2845
Posting Start Date:  09/07/2026

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Postdoctoral Fellow to establish and execute human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-based differentiation workflows for generating lineage-specific cell types, including cortical neurons, cardiomyocytes, and hepatocytes. The candidate will support large-scale cell generation, banking, and molecular profiling activities for downstream genomic and functional applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand human iPSC lines under feeder-free, chemically defined conditions.
  • Develop, optimize, and perform directed differentiation of hiPSCs into:
    • Cortical neurons through neural induction and maturation workflows.
    • Cardiomyocytes using small molecule-based cardiac differentiation protocols.
    • Hepatocytes through stepwise definitive endoderm, hepatic specification, and maturation protocols.
  • Perform lineage-specific cell enrichment (e.g., MACS/FACS/metabolic selection), characterization, and quality control using molecular and cellular assays.
  • Generate, process, and cryopreserve iPSC-derived cell populations for biobanking and future applications.
  • Prepare high-quality RNA samples from purified cell populations for transcriptomic analyses, including ONT direct RNA sequencing.
  • Establish standardized SOPs and QC workflows to ensure reproducibility and scalability.

Requirements

  • PhD in stem cell biology, developmental biology, regenerative medicine, bioengineering, or related fields.
  • Strong hands-on experience in human iPSC culture and directed differentiation.
  • Experience with iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, neural cells, or hepatocyte differentiation is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in cell culture, flow cytometry, immunostaining, RNA preparation, and cell banking.
  • Experience with automation platforms or scalable cell culture workflows is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to independently manage projects and work in a multidisciplinary environment.

The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR may include additional selection criteria based on its prevailing recruitment policies. These policies may be amended from time to time without notice. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
