Research Officer (Human Development)

 

The A*STAR Institute for Human Development and Potential (A*STAR IHDP) focuses on research that aims to improve and impact the health and well-being of Singaporeans across the life course.  

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and organised Research Coordinator/Officer to join the Institute for Human Development and Potential (IHDP).

 

The successful candidate will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team to support the implementation and evaluation of a large pragmatic trial of a behaviour change intervention targeting healthy lifestyle behaviours and weight loss maintenance in adolescents and young adults.

 

This role is well-suited to early career researchers seeking hands-on experience in intervention research, fieldwork, and applied health research in real-world settings.

Job Responsibilities:

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Support day-to-day research activities, including literature searches, preparation of study materials, documentation, and study coordination
  • Coordinate participant recruitment, scheduling, and follow-up across multiple study sites
  • Organise and support site visits and data collection activities in community and/or institutional settings
  • Conduct study procedures to a high standard, including anthropometric measurements (e.g., height, weight) and administration of surveys and study protocols
  • Travel to off-site locations across Singapore for data collection (transport costs reimbursed in accordance with A*STAR IHDP policies)
  • Maintain accurate and organised study records in line with research governance and data management protocols
  • Support data entry, cleaning, and basic visualisation and analysis
  • Contribute to research reporting, including preparation of progress reports, presentations, and manuscripts
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator, project managers, and wider research team to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery

Requirements

 

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage participants professionally and sensitively
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • A proactive, reliable, and “can-do” attitude
  • Willingness to travel across Singapore for fieldwork
  • Interest in nutrition, health, or lifestyle behaviour research
  • Prior experience working in clinical or community settings
  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods, data collection, or basic data handling (e.g., Excel, STATA, or similar)

 

Qualification & Field of Study: Degree in Psychology/Life Sciences/Nutrition or a health-related discipline

 

Years Experience: 1-3 years
