Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Research Engineer / Assistant Research Engineer to support research and development activities in the areas of non-destructive testing (NDT), sensor development, and intelligent inspection systems. The role involves assisting in the design, fabrication, testing, and evaluation of advanced sensing technologies for industrial applications, including aerospace, manufacturing, energy, and transportation. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical research experience in multidisciplinary engineering projects involving sensors, electronics, instrumentation, signal processing, and experimental validation.
Responsibilities:
- Support the setup, testing, characterization, calibration, and evaluation of NDT sensors and sensing systems.
- Conduct laboratory experiments to assess sensor performance, repeatability, reliability, signal quality, and suitability for industrial inspection applications.
- Assist in developing sensor prototypes, test fixtures, experimental platforms, and data acquisition setups.
- Perform NDT experiments on engineering materials and components using ultrasonic, electromagnetic, or related techniques.
- Collect, process, and document experimental data, test results, and technical findings.
- Support troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, procurement, and safe laboratory operations.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure safe laboratory practices.

Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience or strong interest in laboratory testing, sensor evaluation, instrumentation, prototyping, or NDT is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of sensors, electronics, measurement systems, data acquisition, or signal processing will be advantageous.
- Experience with CAD software, PCB design, embedded systems, or microcontrollers is beneficial but not essential.
- Good analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge or experience in NDT, sensor calibration and validation, experimental testing, electronics prototyping, instrumentation, data analysis, CAD, embedded systems, or AI/ML for inspection applications will be advantageous.
