Job Description
We are looking for a Research Engineer – Machine Vision & AI to develop vision-based inspection solutions for industrial applications. The ideal candidate should have strong skills in image processing and rule-based computer vision, with practical knowledge of cameras, lenses, lighting, and imaging systems. Experience applying AI/deep learning to industrial vision inspection is an advantage.
The role involves developing and prototyping solutions for quality inspection, product verification, and anomaly detection, as well as engaging with industry partners to translate inspection requirements into deployable shopfloor solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop rule-based image processing and computer vision algorithms for industrial inspection.
- Design and evaluate camera, lens, and lighting configurations for inspection applications.
- Develop and optimize vision solutions using OpenCV and Python/C++/C#.
- Apply AI/deep learning to vision inspection where appropriate.
- Troubleshoot and improve end-to-end inspection performance from imaging to algorithms.
- Work with industry partners to scope, prototype, and deploy vision solutions.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Computer/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
- Strong foundation in image processing and computer vision, with hands-on experience in rule-based inspection.
- Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++/C# and OpenCV.
- Basic understanding of machine vision hardware, optics, cameras, lenses, and lighting.
- Knowledge of AI/deep learning for computer vision is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience with 3D vision/point clouds is a plus.
