Job Summary
We are looking for an independent scientist capable of leading a research program in Immunology & Inflammation research, fostering collaborations, securing competitive grants, and contributing to translational outcomes.
Core Competencies (Broad & Non‑Restrictive)
- Strong expertise in molecular and cellular biology, with experience in genomics or epigenomics‑related approaches.
- Ability to interpret and integrate NGS datasets (e.g., transcriptional or chromatin profiling such as ChIP‑seq) as part of their research program.
- Demonstrated track record in securing peer‑reviewed national grants.
- Experience working within Singapore’s research ecosystem and building multi‑institutional partnerships including with clinical partners.
- Interest and experience in translating scientific discoveries toward clinical or industry impact (e.g., IP, collaborations, translational grants).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead an independent research program aligned to the lab’s and institute’s strategic priorities, with flexibility in disease area or biological focus.
- Develop a sustainable funding pipeline as PI/Co‑PI across basic, clinical, and translational research schemes.
- Guide research direction and technical strategy, including experimental and/or computational aspects of high‑throughput sequencing workflows.
- Mentor junior researchers (students, fellows, and research staff) and foster scientific development within the team.
- Strengthen translational pathways, including IP generation, collaboration with tech‑transfer offices, and engagement with relevant industry or clinical stakeholders.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- PhD in a relevant Life Science field.
- Approximately 5–10 years post‑PhD research experience with evidence of independence and leadership.
Technical Strengths
- Proficiency in molecular biology and functional assays.
- Experience with genomic or epigenomic techniques (e.g., NGS, transcriptional profiling, chromatin mapping methods).
- Familiarity with analysis or interpretation of high‑throughput sequencing data (e.g., RNA‑seq, ChIP‑seq, ATAC‑seq).
Additional Skills
- Strong communication skills for grant writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines, including interactions with clinical partners.
- Leadership capability and commitment to mentoring.
