This is an exciting opportunity to join the Human Potential Cluster in BMRC. Human Potential is a key focus area in the Human Health and Potential (HHP) domain in RIE2030, and is a key programme to address a national priority as Singapore is facing persistently low birth rates, a declining workforce and rapidly ageing population. Human capital being Singapore’s most valuable resource, it is therefore critical to optimize each individual’s potential throughout life.
The human potential cluster will focus on shaping robust ecosystem through strategic R&D and partnerships to support knowledge creation; building capacity and enabling capabilities in our research institutes; build and support large-scale programmes within and outside of A*STAR especially in translating research discoveries into impactful interventions; and encourage industry oriented collaborations and societal outcomes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic input and coordination on research developments and priorities to achieve the goals of the human potential cluster within the allocated budgets
- Design and establish flagship R&D programmes in A*STAR; working across Divisions to identify synergies across A*STAR initiatives and programmes
- Forge productive collaborations with public sector, hospitals and academic partners
- Develop with team members the strategic plan for human potential research, support intellectual property and commercialisation strategy
- Develop relationships and manage expectations with stakeholders across research institutes within A*STAR and the wider research ecosystem. Engage multiple government agencies including ministries, economic agencies as well as with networks of professional organizations and authorities in specific science and technology areas of interest.
- Stay abreast of technology environment (established & emerging technologies, market trends, IP landscape) and national initiatives. Conducting prior art searches (literature, patents).
Job Requirements:
- PhD/MS in Clinical Sciences or other relevant field with minimum 4 years of meaningful research experience in healthcare and/or biomedical sciences research.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare and biomedical sciences research and its translation into policies and applications
- Outstanding track record in translational and/or academic research
- An analytical mind-set with great problem-solving abilities to translate research findings into policies and applications for health and/or social outcomes
- Excellent communication skills with prior experience in cross-disciplinary team management and engagement of multiple stakeholders
