DxD Hub

DxD Hub is Singapore's national platform for diagnostics development. With a mission to revolutionise diagnostics and improve healthcare outcomes, DxD Hub drives the transformation of innovations into clinically validated diagnostic devices ready for market adoption — leveraging an end-to-end, ISO 13485-compliant productisation engine across In Vitro Diagnostics, Point-Of-Care Connected Devices, Digital Diagnostics, and Digital Therapeutics. Our strengths are in cross-disciplinary product development particularly in molecular, protein assay, immunoassays, and digital diagnostic technologies.

Job Description

We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Integrated Medical Technology engineering team. You will work closely with senior engineers to design, prototype, and validate mechanical subsystems and enclosures that enable new diagnostic platforms. You will take ownership of hands-on prototyping, fabrication coordination, and test execution to translate ideas into robust, market-ready devices.

This position is ideal for engineers with 0–3 years of experience — including candidates with Diploma qualifications — who aspire to develop strong applied skills in mechanical design, design-for-manufacture, and prototype integration within an integrated diagnostics environment.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate mechanical components, enclosures, jigs, and fixtures for diagnostic device prototypes using CAD tools, supporting the translation from proof-of-concept to engineered prototype.
  • Coordinate and liaise with fabrication vendors and internal workshops for 3D printing, machining, and moulding, ensuring parts are delivered to specification and on schedule.
  • Develop and execute mechanical test protocols — including dimensional inspection, fit and assembly validation, environmental stress screening, and durability testing — ensuring data quality, traceability, and repeatability.
  • Process and document test results, generating clear engineering reports that support design evaluation and design history file requirements.
  • Assist in tolerance analysis, assembly studies, and design-for-manufacture reviews during prototype integration phases.
  • Support the creation of mechanical drawings, bill of materials, and assembly documentation in collaboration with optical, electrical, and assay teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and troubleshooting sessions, contributing experimental observations and improvement suggestions.
  • Supervise and guide interns on assigned mechanical tasks, providing day-to-day technical direction and reviewing their work output.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation, test reports, and data management following design control principles (ISO 13485).
  • Prepare and present prototype performance summaries and test data analyses to project team members and stakeholders, ensuring technical insights are clearly communicated and actionable.

Key Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 0–3 years of relevant hands-on experience, including academic project, internship, or research lab work.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Fusion 360) for part and assembly design.
  • Familiarity with common fabrication methods including 3D printing (FDM, SLA), CNC machining, and injection moulding design considerations.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical testing, material selection, and lab safety practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate physical test results into actionable engineering insights and clear documentation.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills; proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with FEA simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation) or GD&T is an advantage.
  • Exposure to Python or MATLAB for data processing and test automation is a plus.
