Job Description

The Executive Director will lead the Aerospace Office (AERO) to function as the control tower for aerospace research in Singapore, develop the aerospace strategy and roadmap, drive industry translation of research outcomes, grow the aerospace ecosystem and manage industry engagement activities.

Key responsibilities include:

Programme Management

  • Lead the AERO PMO team to:
    • solicit, curate and launch projects under the AERO consortium programme to solve industry problem statements
    • seek collaborations with key aerospace companies to develop capabilities to uplift the aerospace industry and new technologies to anchor new or expand existing companies in Singapore
    • monitor project progress actively to ensure delivery of milestones and outcomes, and drive industry adoption
    • plan and execute the 6-monthly consortium programme management committee meetings, and industry workshops for grant calls

Ecosystem Development

  • Lead the AERO Ecosystem team to
    • engage and grow the aerospace ecosystem, including research performers (local and overseas), industry, public agencies and professional associations
    • seek collaborations with new or potential companies, anchor new or expand existing industry partners to grow the aerospace MRO hub in Singapore
    • plan and host the Singapore Aerospace Technology Leadership Forum, in conjunction with the Singapore Airshow, and aerospace exhibits at the Forum
    • create vibrancy in the aerospace ecosystem through industry events and workshops, technology and innovation sharing, and networking opportunities
    • commercialise IPs with industry partners, including MNCs and SMEs to derive value from research outcomes

Strategy and Technology

  • Lead the AERO S&T team to
    • strategise aerospace R&D activities in Singapore, and drive capability development and adoption aligned to the aerospace R&D roadmap
    • review and refresh the aerospace R&D roadmap through industry consultation and technology deep-dives
    • prepare and convene the 6-monthly aerospace governing board meetings

Job Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Bachelor of Engineering, preferably in the field of aerospace or aeronautical
  • 20 years of experience in aerospace, preferably in the areas of MRO, technology development or project management roles
  • At least 5 years in leadership role managing multi-disciplinary team
  • Familiar with the Singapore research ecosystem and public-private partnerships
  • Strategic mindset in developing aerospace technologies and innovation
  • Experience in programme management to drive technology adoption
  • Excellent communicator to engage industry at various leadership levels
