Job Summary
Overview
The Director/Deputy Director, Systems & Technology will lead the strategy, planning, development, and governance of technology capabilities and infrastructure that enable research, innovation, and organisational excellence.
The role is responsible for driving enterprise-wide technology transformation, strengthening digital and data capabilities, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and future-ready infrastructure and platforms. The incumbent will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities where technology can enhance research outcomes, productivity, collaboration, and organisational impact.
Key Responsibilties
- Develop and implement technology strategies, roadmaps, and investment plans aligned with organisational priorities and future research needs.
- Lead infrastructure technology foresighting, including horizon scanning and scenario planning to anticipate emerging scientific, technological, and operational requirements.
- Oversee end-to-end lifecycle management of technology infrastructure, platforms, and services, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Drive the adoption and integration of emerging technologies, digital solutions, and advanced data-driven capabilities to support research and innovation.
- Monitor. infrastructure utilisation, performance, and operational metrics and leverage analytics to optimise resource allocation, enhance efficiency, and inform strategic planning.
- Establish and enforce robust technology governance frameworks covering cybersecurity, risk management, resilience and sustainability.
- Build strategic partnerships across government, academia, industry, and the research ecosystem.
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in technology leadership, infrastructure planning, digital transformation, data, or innovation-related functions.
- Strong understanding of enterprise technology strategy, infrastructure architecture , governance, and organisational transformation.
- Proven ability to lead complex initiatives and engage senior stakeholders across diverse functions.
- Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and people management capabilities.
