Job Description

The Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN) is seeking an exceptional Bioinformatician (Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow) to lead and drive cutting-edge research in cancer biology and epigenetics using spatial/single-cell transcriptomics and multi-modal genomic data analysis. This position is offered in the Laboratory of Inflammation, Epigenetics and Translational Oncology which is interested in understanding the mechanisms of metastasis and treatment resistance in aggressive cancers during inflammation signalling. The laboratory integrates approaches in cancer biology, epigenetics and computational biology to study the progression and therapeutic responses of human malignancies and identify novel therapeutic strategies. We focus on the discovery and characterization of novel oncology targets including long non-coding RNAs and epigenomics signatures in various solid and haematological malignancies, with a mission to catalyze a path towards targeted cancer treatments.

We seek a highly motivated scientist with strong expertise in multi-omics integration, cancer genomics and spatial/single-cell transcriptomics to lead the computational strategy for multidisciplinary translational oncology projects. The successful candidate will work closely with clinician scientists and wet-lab researchers to drive high-impact publications and therapeutic target discovery. Candidates are expected to lead research projects and publications, as well as contribute to grant writing and mentoring of junior researchers/PhD or FYP students alongside the PI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead computational design and execution of integrative multi-omics, spatial/single-cell transcriptomics analyses independently.
  • Contribute to hypothesis generation and experimental design.
  • Analyze, interpret and integrate large-scale cancer genomics cohorts (e.g. TCGA, METABRIC) to generate clinical and biological insights.
  • Prioritise therapeutic targets through integrative computational frameworks and support the development of translational biomarker discovery pipelines.
  • Contribute substantially to the preparation and writing of high-impact manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Ensure good organization and documentation of all NGS data generated by the lab, analytical work and clinical data from collaborators.
  • Mentor junior researchers, PhD or FYP students, fostering a productive and supportive lab environment.
  • Present findings at internal meetings and international conferences.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics or related discipline, with at least 2 years of relevant postdoctoral experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading research projects independently and first authored publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals essential.
  • Proven expertise in multi-omics and spatial/single-cell transcriptomics analysis and data integration.
  • Experience with handling large clinical datasets and delivering translational outcomes will be desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in R and Python, scientific writing and presentation of research findings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Committed and able to work flexible hours.

We offer

  • A highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment at the interface of cancer biology, immunology, RNA biology, and translational oncology.
  • Opportunities to develop independent research directions, access state-of-the-art technologies and core facilities, and engage in collaborations with clinical researchers.
  • Career development support through mentorship, scientific training, conference participation and opportunities for high-impact publications and fellowship applications.
  • A fully funded position with an internationally competitive salary.

Interested candidates are invited to apply with a cover letter stating your research interests and experience, curriculum vitae and the names and email addresses of three references.
