Overview
The Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), part of A*STAR, is a leading biomedical research institute focused on advancing discovery in cell and molecular biology. IMCB conducts cutting-edge research to uncover fundamental biological mechanisms and translate these insights toward improving human health, spanning areas such as cancer, neuroscience, metabolic disease, and emerging biomedical technologies.
A*STAR IMCB is seeking a scientifically trained professional to support alumni engagement, communications, and institutional initiatives, while contributing to strategy and planning efforts across key therapeutic areas.
This role is suited for early career researchers who are interested in transitioning from bench science into a broader role spanning engagement, strategy, and research management.
Key Responsibilities
Alumni Engagement & Network Development
- Drive IMCB’s alumni engagement in partnership with A*STAR Global Network (AGN) through building relationships with alumni across academia, industry, and healthcare in Singapore and beyond
- Design and execute alumni programmes, including events, partnerships, and outreach initiatives
- Leverage alumni networks to support collaborations, talent pipelines, and institutional visibility
Strategy & Programme Support
- Support development of institutional strategy across therapeutic areas, including oncology, neurology, metabolic disease, and ophthalmology
- Contribute to landscape analysis and synthesis of scientific and ecosystem insights
- Assist in coordination of cross-institution initiatives within IMCB and A*STAR
Communications & Events
- Support development of institute-level communications, including digital content, newsletters, and engagement materials
- Support admin team in executing key events, including leadership retreats
Planning & Reporting
- Support planning and reporting processes for management reporting
- Track key initiatives and assist in cross institutional programmes
- Contribute to preparation of materials for discussions and meetings
Requirements
- PhD in biomedical or life sciences preferred, with at least 2 years of work experience
- Prior experience in strategy or planning role preferred
- Strong interest in transitioning beyond bench research into engagement, strategy, or research management
- Ability to communicate scientific concepts clearly to diverse audiences
- Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
