Job Description
Job Title:  [50005777-RSE2] Scientist, Omics Technology Development
Requisition ID:  2750
Posting Start Date:  12/07/2026

We are seeking a highly motivated and curious Research Scientist to join our growing team and contribute to impactful research supporting the safety, efficacy, and quality of next‑generation biotherapeutics. This role offers the opportunity to work at the interface of analytical chemistry, biotherapeutics, and systems biology, with contributions in two core areas:

Development of advanced analytical methodologies - for the characterisation of emerging and next-generation biologics and bioprocesses. This includes the design and implementation of highly sensitive and high-accuracy analytical techniques to enhance detection, quantification, and structural characterization of complex biomolecules, enabling improved process understanding and product quality assessment.

Application of metabolomics and spent media analysis workflows - to support bioprocess optimisation for the production of next-generation biologics and other modalities. This involves profiling metabolic signatures and process-related impurities to enable data-driven optimisation strategies, improve product yield and quality, and elucidate underlying biological mechanisms associated with process performance and cell states. As part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, you will have the opportunity to push scientific boundaries, explore new analytical strategies, and shape research directions. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to design experiments, generate high‑quality datasets, and deliver insights that enhance biological understanding and support product characterisation. You will also contribute to maintaining a safe, organised, and innovative laboratory environment.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and contribute to method development, characterisation studies, and metabolomics investigations, from experimental planning through data interpretation.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC–MS platforms, with opportunities to adopt and optimise new analytical technologies.
  • Develop and refine sample preparation workflows, including the use of automated liquid handling systems.
  • Apply statistical, chemometric, and data‑driven approaches to complex datasets to uncover actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, communicate findings clearly, and contribute to publications, presentations, and project reports.
  • Support laboratory functions, safety culture, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Biochemical/Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in analytical method development, biotherapeutic characterisation, or metabolomics (industry or academic experience welcomed).
  • Proficiency in liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) operation and maintenance.
  • Hands‑on experience with automated liquid handling for sample prep or workflow automation.
  • Strong foundation in statistical analysis, multivariate methods, or computational data interpretation.
  • High level of scientific rigour, attention to detail, and commitment to producing high‑quality data.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced research environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within project timelines.

What We Offer

  • Opportunities to work on innovative and high‑impact research spanning biologics development, analytical science, and metabolomics.
  • Access to advanced instrumentation and platforms, with support for continued technical and professional development.
  • A collaborative, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment where scientific curiosity is encouraged.
  • The chance to contribute to research that advances biologics process characterisation through uncovering important biological insights to improve biologics manufacturing processes.
