The Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) is a leading biomedical research institute focused on advancing human health through discoveries in cell and molecular biology. As part of Singapore’s public research ecosystem under Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), IMCB drives fundamental science with strong emphasis on translation across different therapeutic areas.

IMCB is seeking a driven individual to support business development efforts with a focus on venture creation and spin-off formation. This role sits at the interface of science, entrepreneurship, and capital, working closely with researchers, investors, and ecosystem partners to translate promising scientific assets into new ventures.

In this role, the individual will provide support in identifying cutting-edge assets and technologies and nurturing them toward early-stage commercialisation. Working closely with researchers and the broader Tech-Biz team, they will help advance promising assets, conduct market and technology analyses, and contribute to the development of go-to-market strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • R&D project support: Assist in identifying high-potential projects and support their development from proof of concept to early-stage development, including preparing project assessments and supporting documentation.
  • Market and technology analysis: Conduct competitive landscape analyses and market research to guide researchers on development pathways and assess the feasibility and commercial potential of projects.
  • Industry engagement: Source and engage prospective commercial partners to establish research collaborations, joint laboratory, and other partnership opportunities that advance the commercialisation of IMCB's technologies.
  • Agreements and partnerships: Assist in structuring agreements and supporting negotiations with partners and help manage ongoing alliances and collaborations.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop commercialisation opportunities and support due diligence processes.

Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant working experience in the biomedical science, life science, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry.
  • Master's degree in biomedical science, life science, pharmaceutical science, or pharmacy.
  • Experience or exposure to biomedical start-ups, venture building, technology transfer, or commercialisation of technology is advantageous.
  • Good interpersonal skills to engage diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex challenges in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property management and patenting is an advantage.

The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR may include additional selection criteria based on its prevailing recruitment policies. These policies may be amended from time to time without notice. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
