The Laboratory of Neural Organoids and Precision Neurobiology at the A*STAR Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) is seeking a highly motivated Scientist (Postdoctoral Researcher) to join an interdisciplinary research team focused on developing advanced human brain and spinal organoid platforms to study neurodegeneration, with the ultimate goal of improving human health.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of stem cell biology, organoid engineering, functional genomics and translational neuroscience, contributing to next-generation human disease models and therapeutic discovery pipelines. Key responsibilities:
- Design, execute and optimize experiments using human pluripotent stem cells and neural organoid systems
- Develop and validate disease-relevant organoid models
- Lead independent research projects aligned with the laboratory?s and institute?s strategic goals
- Support translational research including target validation and therapeutic development
- Contribute to high impact publications, patents and translational outputs
- Work closely with academic and clinical collaborators across the ecosystem, as well as industry partners
- Contribute to grant writing, progress reports and project proposals.
- Mentor junior scientists, researchers and students
- Contribute to a laboratory culture that values scientific rigor, initiative, collaboration and accountability.
Qualifications
- PhD in Biomedical Science, Bioengineering, Biological Science, Neuroscience, Genomics or related fields
- Strong experience in at least one of the following:
o Human stem cell culture and organoid culture o Molecular and cellular neuroscience o Functional genomics o Computational biology
- Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications
- Strong experimental design, data analysis and scientific communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team science
