Enhancing Research Governance and Compliance in A*STAR
Project Description
The intern will support the Research Integrity, Compliance, Ethics and Support (RICES) by contributing to system and process improvement initiatives that strengthen assessments and reporting, ensuring compliance with research policies and regulations (specifically the Human Biomedical Research Act, A*STAR Publication Policy, and A*STAR Research Data Policy).
The internship will provide structured, hands on exposure to research governance frameworks and compliance operations. The intern will:
- Build applied knowledge of research governance and regulatory compliance through practical exposure to the relevant legislation, policies and quality frameworks.
- Develop project management, analytical and problem-solving skills by participating in workflow mapping and system reviews, and targeted assessments.
- Strengthen communication skills and build stakeholder engagement capabilities through cross-functional collaborations.
- Gain experience in continuous improvement practices, contributing to evidence-based recommendations and supporting their implementation.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. life sciences, biomedical sciences, public health or a related field).
- Interest in research governance, ethics or compliance.
- Meticulous, organised, and detail-oriented, with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Experience using digital dashboards for tracking and monitoring will be an advantage
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills with an aptitude for reviewing processes and identifying improvement opportunities
