The Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC) is Singapore?s national platform for drug development. Together with public sector and industry partners, EDDC translates biomedical and clinical research into small and large molecule therapeutic assets, bringing these from concept to commercial partnership.
We are seeking a driven Business Development Manager/ Senior Manager, keen to operate at the intersection of science and strategy, to join our team.
You will be shaping how assets and emerging technology platforms are positioned, stress-testing commercial assumptions, and engaging global pharma and biotech partners.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary drug discovery teams and senior leadership to ensure that our portfolio projects are developed with a clear path to partnership and impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Portfolio Evaluation

Lead commercial assessment and positioning for projects entering EDDC?s portfolio

Together with our scientific and development colleagues, define and refine Target Product Profiles with a commercial lens

Assess competitive landscapes, unmet need, differentiation, and partnering viability

Identify inflection points that enhance asset value for licensing or co-development

Develop compelling non-confidential decks and asset narratives
2. Market & Competitive Intelligence

Conduct market analysis in therapeutic areas of focus

Continuously monitor evolving standards of care and pipeline developments

Translate competitive insights into actionable strategy recommendations
3. External Partnering & Deal Execution

Build and manage relationships with local and global pharma/biotech partners

Represent EDDC at partnering meetings and international conferences (e.g., BIO)

Drive BD & licensing and spinoff discussions in collaboration with A*Innovation & Enterprise and A*STAR Legal counterparts

Drive the set up of contracts such as Non-Disclosure Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Research Collaboration Agreements, Licensing Agreements together with A*STAR counterparts

Manage due diligence processes with prospective partners, including managing the use of virtual dataroom
4. Contributing to BD team efforts
- Contribute to BD strategy, outreach planning, and long-term partnership models
What We Are Looking For
Experience & Background
- Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in pharma/biotech business development, licensing, strategy consulting, venture, or related commercial roles
- Past exposure to deal processes (in-licensing, out-licensing, co-development, or strategic alliances)
- Understanding of drug development pathways (preclinical to clinical), regulatory considerations, and IP strategy

- Able to assess projects objectively, connecting scientific data to market opportunity and/or unmet needs
- Comfortable engaging senior stakeholders internally and externally
- Can manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
