Laboratory of Biodiversity Genomics is a newly established Laboratory at Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS).
It focuses on Novel Whole-Genome Assembly of regional plants, fruits, flowers and vegetables and downstream works that will reveal their biology and medical/nutritional values. We are looking for a plant biologist to empower our team towards becoming a leader in the field.
Identify novel molecular pathways and phytochemicals that can potentially developed into new drugs, alternative treatment options or nutritional supplements
Utilise plant metabolic engineering to enhance nutritional values in plant-based food
Decipher genomics, epigenomics and transcriptomics landscapes of natural plants to guide novel cultivation techniques to select for the desired traits and to increase yields so as to safeguard local and regional food security
- Expertise in plant genetics and molecular biology, including but not limited to DNA, RNA and protein extraction, investigate DNA, gene and protein expression (e.g. genotyping PCR, qPCR, Immunoblot), molecular cloning and plant transgenics transformation via techniques such as CRIPSR gene editing and agrobacterium-mediated plant transformation
- Experience in plant phytochemicals extraction and analysis e.g HPLC will be an advantage
- Interest in plant biodiversity and willingness to work with plant systems
Resourceful and able to work with minimal supervision, independently and in a team
Willing, adaptable and flexible to take on required/necessary tasks beyond the job
