Our team at QTE, IMRE works on developing atomic magnetometers. We are searching for a highly motivated individual who is able to work independently and within a team to help with data acquisition and hardware programming in support of measurements to characterize our atomic vapor cells and atomic magnetometer. He/she will also be tasked to design opto-mechanical components and electronic circuits under the supervision of more senior researchers to build atomic magnetometers capable of measuring magnetic fields about 10 parts per billion smaller than Earth’s magnetic field, which will enable diverse applications ranging from brain imaging, explosives detection, and even searches for exotic physics.
Job requirements
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with Python and object-oriented programming
- A passion and zeal for learning and trying out new ideas in lab
- Ability to communicate and work well in a team
- Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Desired experiences
- Experience with programming hardware
- Experience with designing mechanical components with computer-assisted design (CAD) software
- Experience with version control software (Git)
