Job description
· Set up, configure, optimize the OASIS3-MCT model coupling library at NSCC.
· Integrate regional atmosphere and ocean models via the OASIS3-MCT.
· Carry out sensitivity experiments using the coupled modelling system i.e., one-way and two-way coupled experiments.
· Assess the performance of the one-way and two-way coupling.
· Attend regular meetings with collaborators and present results.
· Write reports and publish high-quality journal papers.
· Present the results at the top international conference in the field.
· Attend training/workshop as required to maintain proficiency.
· Any other duties as assigned.
Qualification & Field of Study:
· PhD in Physical Oceanography, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Geophysical fluid dynamics, Ocean Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or other related discipline.
Job Requirements
· Preferably 3 years of relevant research/industry experience.
· Strong background of atmospheric science, meteorology, physical oceanography, ocean modelling, and hydrodynamics.
· Experience of using regional coupled modelling system and OASIS3-MCT model coupling toolkit.
· Understanding of air-sea interaction/coupling and flux exchanges.
· Experience of using LFRic/NEMO or other atmosphere/ocean models is a plus.
· Knowledge of Linux operating system and shell scripting.
· Experience of working on a HPC/supercomputer.
· Good knowledge and skill in programming language (e.g., Fortran, C, C++, Python)
· Experience of handling large global data set (netCDF format) using CDO and NCO.
· Familiar with MATLAB, and Ferret/pyFerret or similar.
· Knowledge in handling satellite, in-situ, reanalysis/hindcast data will be an advantage.
