The A*STAR?s National Metrology Centre (NMC) is the national measurement institute of Singapore, dedicated to advancing measurement science for an innovative and competitive economy. NMC is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and innovative engineer with excellent interpersonal skills to join our multi-disciplinary team.
Successful candidate will be supporting measurement science R&D, including metrology for sensor testing and measurement of low-carbon fuels; He/she will be also working with a team of metrologists and scientists to support a competent and internationally recognized Singapore national measurement infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct laboratory experiments and develop basic software tools to collect comprehensive data & perform data analysis under the guidance of metrologists and scientists.
· Perform and develop various chemical analytical techniques and methods.
· Gas sensor testing platform for chemical compositions assessment.
· Maintain accurate records of experimental data and observation and assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
· Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot experimental issues and propose innovative solutions.
· Assist in literature reviews relevant to ongoing projects.
· Actively look out for ways to improve laboratory operation through automation and digitalisation.
· Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
· Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and suggestions to improve measurement methodologies and processes.
Job Requirements:
· Honor?s degree in chemistry, physical science or engineering or relevant discipline; postgraduate degree would be advantageous.
· Familiarity with chemical analytical instrumentation used for measurement and testing.
· Capability to work autonomously yet collaboratively within a team.
· A proactive team contributor who is self-driven, eager to learn, and adopts a positive approach to challenges.
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
· Programming skills (e.g. Python, SQL, TensorFlow, Matlab, R) and experience in automation and digitalisation is an advantage.
The applicant will also work on precision measurement and national measurement standards on chemical compositions. He/She will involve in measurement knowledge transfer programme such as training and consulting services to develop measurement competency and provide measurement solution to the industry.
