Senior Principal Investigator
Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), A*STAR
The Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) is seeking an outstanding scientist to lead a translational biologics programme focused on antibody- and peptide-based approaches, with emphasis on mechanism validation, target de-risking, and translational decision-making. This position is aimed at strengthening IMCB?s BioDiscovery X Platforms and is intended to bridge fundamental disease biology with biologic modality concepts, enabling effective progression of discoveries toward external development partners in Singapore and beyond. This role does not involve GMP production and is focused on pre-clinical development.
We are looking for a Senior Principal Investigator with a track record in translation and scientific leadership with demonstrated success in supporting drug development in academic or industrial settings. The successful candidate will lead a high-impact research programme and contribute to IMCB?s strategic priorities in advancing human model systems and translational biology. The candidate is expected to develop and lead programmes in areas such as: (i) antibody and peptide-based target engagement biology; (ii) mechanism-of-action validation in relevant disease models; (iii) evaluation of binding, avidity, and functional potency; (iv) translational assay development and biomarker logic; (v) integration of biologics with cell and gene therapy concepts where relevant
Key Responsibilities
- Lead biologics-focused translational research programmes, supported by a small team of scientists
- Design and execute mechanism-driven validation studies
- Establish robust assays for target engagement and functional activity
- Interpret biological data to support translational decision-making
- Collaborate across disciplines and disease areas
- Contribute to external partnerships and technology transfer
- Build collaborative links with partners across A*STAR, hospitals, national platforms, and industry
Qualifications and Requirements
- PhD in immunology, molecular biology, protein science, chemical biology, or related discipline
- Postdoctoral and/or industry experience in antibody or peptide-based research
- Strong understanding of translational biology and assay development
- Track record of publications and/or translational outputs
- Experience with antibody engineering or peptide optimisation
- Exposure to early drug discovery or translational research environments
- Strong commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research and mentoring
Prior industry experience is welcome but not required.
