At Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC), we are dedicated to discovering and developing novel therapeutics through close collaboration with public sector institutions and industry partners. Drug discovery is a complex and resource-intensive journey, and we harness AI and data-driven strategies to improve the success rate of our programs. As part of our long-term strategy, we initiate projects where confidence in the therapeutic targets is strengthened by insights from patient-derived datasets. Like many biotech and pharmaceutical companies that are expanding into inflammation and immunology (I&I) disease areas, our approach reflects this growing trend and aims to deliver innovative solutions to address significant unmet medical needs in this area.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist to join our I&I discovery group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immunology, molecular biology, and translational research. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the team working on the discovery of novel therapeutics and engaging in preclinical drug development from target exploration to drug candidate selection within the I&I therapeutic space.
Principle Roles & Responsibilities:
-
Lead and design preclinical research programs focused on identifying and validating novel therapeutic targets in immunology.
-
Develop and optimize cell-based assays, flow cytometry panels, and molecular biology techniques to support drug discovery.
-
Participate in the evaluation of internal as well as external collaborative projects.
-
Analyze, interpret, and present complex data to internal stakeholders and external partners.
-
Stay up to date with relevant scientific literature, research on translatability of preclinical disease models and novel mechanisms of action of particular importance within the I&I therapeutic space.
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including medicinal chemistry, antibody technology, in vivo pharmacology, computational biology and clinical development.
-
Mentor and train junior scientists, providing technical guidance, fostering scientific development, and supporting career growth within the team.
Requirements:
-
Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field with > 8 years working experience and minimally 3 years experience in the industry sector.
-
Strong expertise in immune cell biology, cytokine signalling, and autoimmune disease models.
-
Experience with primary human PBMCs, along with a strong understanding of tissue repair and regeneration in the context of immune resolution.
-
Proven expertise in developing and optimizing cell-based functional assays.
-
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey scientific concepts and influence stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams.
-
Proven track record of scientific innovation, publications, and project leadership.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
