A*STAR Skin Research Labs (Olivo Lab) is seeking a highly motivated Research Officer with a background in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) or Biomedical Engineering (BME) to contribute to the development of cutting-edge photoacoustic and ultrasound imaging systems. The successful candidate will work on designing, developing, and optimizing imaging hardware and software, integrating system components, and implementing image processing algorithms for biomedical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and integrate hardware and software components for photoacoustic, ultrasound, or optical imaging systems.
- Write and optimize code for image acquisition, reconstruction, and processing.
- Conduct experiments to validate system performance, including phantom, ex vivo, and in vivo imaging studies.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and clinicians.
- Troubleshoot system issues and optimize performance for real-time imaging.
- Document research findings and contribute to publications and patent filings.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor?s/Master?s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE), Biomedical Engineering (BME), or a related field.
- Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, Labview etc for image processing and system control are preferred.
- Hands-on experience with signal/image processing techniques and algorithms.
- Knowledge of hardware interfacing (e.g., DAQ systems, FPGA, or embedded systems) is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in medical imaging is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work independently.
