Job Description:
We are looking for candidates to join the fusion-energy effort in the newly formed Future Energy Acceleration & Translation (FEAT) Programme, A*STAR. FEAT"s Advanced Ceramic Composite & Coatings team focuses primarily on advanced materials development. The new hires will be expected to contribute to and potentially lead research in materials synthesis and irradiation testing & analysis. While the new hires will begin by working on existing projects, participation in grant calls as a principal investigator will be highly encouraged.
The key scope of job includes:
- Develop and evaluate advanced materials for energy applications, including fusion, fission, hydrogen technologies, or other extreme environment.
- Conduct research on materials development for harsh and extreme environments to improve performance and reliability in energy applications.
- Assist project and group leaders in preparing research proposals and achieving OKR (Objectives and Key Results).
- Publish high-quality scientific papers and contribute to intellectual property development.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on energy-related projects.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
- Strong publication record and/or relevant research experience.
- Proven expertise in materials development for energy-related research such as fusion, fission, hydrogen, or other advanced energy systems.
- Experience with materials characterization techniques and performance evaluation in extreme environments.
- Solid understanding of physics of materials, material degradation mechanisms, and structural integrity analysis.
- Ability to work independently with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and effective teamwork skills.
- Min 5 years of experience on materials synthesis and irradiation testing & analysis
