Description:
We are looking for a research officer to assist with our project in pharmacogenomics as part of a national precision medicine initiative. This project involves a rare chance to do both molecular biology experiments e.g. site directed mutagenesis in yeast, as well as learn cutting edge bioinformatics skill sets including machine leaerning and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling. The research officer will be expected to perform basic wetlab tasks, such as bacterial and yeast cultures, in vitro enzyme assays and LC-MS/MS analysis. On the job training will be provided for bioinformatics and pharmacometrics expertise, a highly sought after skill in the field of drug development.
Job Responsibilities:

Provide technical and wet-lab support to the team?s research activities.

Assist with hands-on experiments and operations including yeast based microsome assays.

Follow analytic procedures and instrumental operation guidelines, plan and execute experiments independently.

Perform data collection and analysis, present progress reports, and manage research data and notes.

Maintain lab inventory and procurement of laboratory consumables.

Engage in literature review and research discussion.

Assist the team with the maintenance of smooth and safe operation in the working environment.

Ensure project deliverables are met in a timely manner and to the highest standard.
Job Requirements:

Degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Life Science, computer science, chemical engineering, or pharmacy-related discipline.

Basic wetlab skills such as microbiological culture, aseptic handling techniques, enzyme assays. Expertise in LC/MS-MS analysis is also a huge plus.

Good understanding of pharmacology concepts.

Familiarity with bioinformatics software such as R or python is a plus.

Minimum one-year wetlab research experience required.

Good organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Highly motivated, keen to learn and committed to laboratory work.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
