The A*STAR Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) is inviting applications for a Principal Investigator to lead a research programme in gene therapy, with a focus on adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector technologies. We are looking for a creative and driven scientist to develop new molecular strategies for treating disease and contribute to IMCB?s mission of advancing scientific discovery, enabling technology innovation, and supporting Singapore?s growing biotech ecosystem.
This position is part of IMCB?s effort to expand its capabilities in therapeutic innovation, especially in platforms that intersect with RNA, DNA, and protein engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead an independent research programme in AAV-based gene therapy
- Engineer novel AAV vectors for tissue targeting, payload control, and immune evasion
- Apply gene delivery approaches in preclinical models to address unmet needs in genetic or immunological diseases
- Compete for external research funding, both local and international
- Supervise and mentor a research team, including students and postdoctoral fellows
- Build collaborations across A*STAR, and the broader Singapore ecosystem
Qualifications and Requirements
- PhD in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral research experience in gene therapy, virology, molecular biology, or related fields
- Strong expertise in AAV vector design, production, and in vivo delivery
- A track record of publications in leading scientific journals
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and managing research projects
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
